Become a Sponsor¶
RustGIS is free and open-source software, released under the Apache License 2.0 and developed in the open. There is no paid tier, no seat licence and no telemetry in the app: everything on this site is available to everyone, for good.
That model only works if the work behind it is sustainable. If RustGIS saves you or your team time, sponsorship is the most direct way to keep it moving.

Ways to sponsor¶
| Option | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| GitHub Sponsors | Monthly or one-time sponsorship, billed through your existing GitHub account. | Individuals and organizations that want recurring support, and companies that can expense it alongside other GitHub spend. |
| Buy Me a Coffee | A quick one-off contribution, no account required. | A small thank-you for a feature or bug fix that helped you. |
Both go to Qiusheng Wu, the maintainer of RustGIS and the wider opengeos ecosystem, including GeoLibre.
What your sponsorship supports¶
- Development time: new features from the roadmap, bug fixes, and keeping up with fast-moving dependencies such as egui, wgpu and the GeoLibre tool suite.
- Shipping to every platform: the Apple developer account, code signing and notarization behind the macOS app, the Microsoft Store listing, and building the Windows and Linux packages, which the project pays for whether or not anyone sponsors it.
- Hosting: rustgis.app, the web app, the plugin registry, the download mirror and the sample data and fonts at assets.rustgis.app.
- Documentation: the User Guide and examples that make the app usable without training.
- Support: triaging issues, answering questions and reviewing community pull requests.
Sponsoring as an organization¶
If your team depends on RustGIS and you would like to discuss a larger or invoiced sponsorship, please open an issue to get in touch. Grant-funded and institutional support is welcome too.
Other ways to support RustGIS¶
Sponsorship is not the only currency, and none of these cost anything:
- Star and share: star the repository and tell colleagues who are looking for a fast, open-source GIS.
- Report bugs well: a reproducible issue is worth a great deal.
- Contribute code or plugins: see Contributing and Plugins.
- Translate the interface: RustGIS ships in 15 languages; see Languages to add or improve one.
